About

There is something so self-indulgent about writing a blog, but it’s the best way to create a little bit of meaning in the all-too-meaningless digital universe. This blog is not about me, it’s about things that catch my eye, things that inspire me. So actually, it is kind of about me, but you won’t be hearing about my daily life, unless that happens to get really exciting. I’ll post things that I find meaningful or beautiful. Sometimes, these feelings will last only for a moment. Sometimes, they won’t be shared with anyone else. For instance, when I travelled in Europe last summer, I got a huge kick out of the fact that different countries use different types of power outlets for their plugs. The differences came to be an aesthetic curiosity of mine (I preferred the ones used in the UK and Ireland), and they also reminded me not to make assumptions about the most rudimentary aspects of life in a particular culture. Despite these differences, we are all part of one human family- just like all the different power outlets have the same function. I’m sorry to philosophize, and  I don’t mean for anyone to bookmark this blog, but rather for people to stumble upon it as they navigate the vagaries of the internet. Enjoy (or not)!

The header images will be photographs of mine (read: self-indulgence). If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions concerning the blog, don’t hesistate to email me at eclectic.power.outlets@gmail.com. My name is Ian and I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
